WorleyParsons to manage Surat Gas FEED study

ARROW Energy has appointed WorleyParsons as the program manager for the front-end engineering and design study for its Surat Gas project.

The FEED study will include the preliminary engineering, design, procurement and planning services that will allow the preparation of the FEED report, cost estimate and execution planning required for development of upstream surface facilities.

The surface facilities will include well-head infrastructure, gathering systems, gas compression, water treatment and power generation.

Work under the contract starts immediately with the study to be completed in the first quarter of 2010.

The study will be carried out by Arrow and WorleyParsons teams in Brisbane under an integrated project team model.

Arrow chief executive officer Australia Shaun Scott said the company was pleased to be working with WorleyParsons on its largest gas exploration, development and production project in the Surat Basin.

“We are pleased to be working with WorleyParsons who were selected because they were able to demonstrate their commitment to Arrow’s drive for excellence through LEAN production techniques and their strong position in the CSG industry,” he said.

Surat Gas involves the staged development of about 1500 production wells and associated infrastructure in an area covering Arrow’s existing gas production fields at Tipton West, Daandine, Stratheden and Kogan North.

The project will include a broader area extending from Wandoan to Dalby and south to Millmerran and Goondiwindi, in which Arrow holds petroleum tenure and environmental approvals for exploration.

Arrow has said the project would significantly expand its gas production from the Surat Basin for the ongoing supply of the Queensland gas market and the proposed Fisherman’s Landing 1.5 million tonne per annum liquefied natural gas plant at Gladstone.
