Lodestone drilling for CSG
COAL seam gas-focused Lodestone Energy is about to embark on a three-well CSG drilling campaign at its Tambo project in the upper portion of Queensland’s Surat Basin.
The Brisbane-based company has contracted Major Drilling for the program, which is expected to start on Saturday.
The program is aimed at establishing the presence of coal and CSG, and to provide data relevant to the stratigraphy of the region.
Two of the coreholes will be drilled to a depth of 500m while the third will be drilled to 1000m.
Once drilled, cores will be submitted for desorption testing, which is expected to take up to three months.
The Tambo project extends between Roma and Blackall, covering ATP 1020 and 27 exploration permits for coal.
On its website, Lodestone says it expects the Tambo project could become a source of CSG for export LNG plants and the domestic market.
The company also holds the Moreton Energy coal project in the Clarence-Moreton Basin and plans to build an energy business supplying CSG and coal from the two projects to domestic and export markets.
