Icon pushes ahead with Surat CSG campaign

ICON Energy continues to achieve positive results from its drilling program in ATP 626P of the Surat Basin with the Lydia-6 well penetrating 13m of net coal.

The well, drilled to a depth of 850m, also indicated a good dual-porosity fracture system and has been completed as a monitor well.

Lydia-6 is the seventh well in Icon’s current drilling program aimed to appraise the Walloon Coal Measures for coal seam gas production.

The company is now drilling the eighth well, Lucy-1, which is being drilled as a stratigraphic hole to appraise the Walloon Coal Measures for gas content and reservoir properties through a combination of coring, core analysis, testing and logging.

Icon said the well has been drilled to a depth of 745.2m and is being cored.

The total depth of the well is 1000m.
