Galilee, AGL gets cracking on ATP 529P

GALILEE Energy says AGL has spudded the first of seven core holes that will be drilled in ATP 529P in the Galilee Basin, Queensland.

Muttaburra-2 has reached a depth of 998.4m out of its planned total depth of 1136m and has encountered coal seams in the Betts Creek beds as anticipated.

Phase one of AGL’s farm-in involved AGL drilling five wells at Glenaras for a coal seam gas pilot production test while the second phase includes recording 540 kilometres of seismic.

AGL is investing $20 million in the pilot and another $17 million in the second stage, which involves an exploration and appraisal work program, to earn a 50% stake in ATP 529P.

Meanwhile, Galilee expects to shortly start drilling two core holes in its 100% owned ATP 799P to assess its CSG potential.

The holes will be drilled by a Major Drilling Group rig following the recent completion of a 150km seismic survey shot by Terrex Seismic.
