ESG continues NSW drilling
EASTERN Star Gas continues to make progress with its coal seam gas drilling programs in New South Wales and has also drilled a follow up to the Coonarah-2 well.
Over in PEL 238, ESG has successful completed the Bibblewindi-26H tri-lateral well, which successfully intersected the Bibblewindi-22, 23, 24 and 25 vertical production wells.
The company plans to complete the production wells and production gathering system back to the Bibblewindi gas plant over the next month.
ESG has also completed Bibblewindi-20, the first of three vertical appraisal wells in the southern area of the Bibblewindi and Dewhurst fields and is getting set to spud the second well, Dewhuirst-9.
The wells are aimed at appraising the extent and quality of this field and assist in further reserves certification.
The company is also preparing to spud the Yallambee-1 well, which will test the Hoskissons and Bohena coal seams about 14 kilometres northeast of the Bohena field.
Yallambee-1 is located on trend from the Dewhurst area and is expected to have similar thick Bohena coal development.
Meanwhile, ESG has drilled its Coonarah-9 corehole in PPL 3 to a total depth of 1023.9 metres and confirmed that favourable CSG characteristics within the Hoskissons seam extend across the southeast portion of the Coonarah field.
The well was designed to follow-up on the Hoskissons seam results seen in Coonarah-2 to assist in optimising the location of a production pilot.
Work has now started on designing a production pilot to further test this coal.
ESG has a 65% interest in PEL 238 and PPL 3 while Santos holds the remaining 35% in the two permits.
