CSG shows at Norwich Park

BOW Energy has identified three possible high-potential coal seam gas prospects in its Norwich Park block in the Bowen Basin, Queensland.

VM-3, the third core hole well in the Vermont CSG prospect, intersected more than 62m of gassy coals to a depth of 825m, including 24.3m of coal from the Fort Cooper Coal Measures and 37.7m of coal from the Moranbah Coal Measures.

The three wells intersected an average of about 63m of gassy coals and confirmed the prognosed coal depths and thicknesses across the Vermont CSG Field.

Bow said today an analysis of gas contents, composition and saturation was underway.

The company plans to begin an appraisal program on the Vermont CSG prospect in the third quarter with the intention of accelerating reserves definition and certification programs.

The drilling rig will complete casing on VM-3 before demobilising and commencing drilling on the further four core holes scheduled in the Dysart and Norwich prospects.

An additional coring rig is expected to begin next month to accelerate the 2010 drilling program.

Bow is currently targeting 100 petajoules of 2P (proven and probable) gas reserves and 1200PJ of 3P (proven, probable and possible) gas reserves by the end of 2010.
