Bow upgrades CSG reserves
BOW Energy has announced substantial certified reserves upgrades at its Don Juan and Blackwater coal seam gas projects during the September quarter.
The company said gross 2P certified reserves increased from 34 petajoules to 101PJ.
MHA Petroleum Consultants previously certified 2P reserves for the Juandah coal measures only, but certified reserves for the Taroom coal measures this month following favourable gas saturation analysis of coal samples conducted during the quarter.
3P reserves at Bow’s Blackwater field have also been substantially upgraded, from 174PJ 559PJ to 559PJ 886PJ in the Rangal coal measures only.
Bow completed the initial seven-corehole program over the Blackwater field in the quarter, confirming an average total thickness of 23 metres of gassy coal seams.
The program also confirmed permeability in several coal seams and high gas contents of 8-21 cubic metres per tonne (dry ash free) over the Rangal and Burngrove coal measures from depths between 117m and 585m.
Bow said further 3P reserves upgrades were expected from both coal measures during the next quarter.
The company also completed the initial 3P drilling program over the Comet CSG project with results consistent to the Blackwater field.
Technical results for this prospect are being prepared for MHA to assess in early 2010.
Bow is scheduled to start a seven-corehole program in the Norwich Park CSG block next month.
The company also began a nine-well 2P program in the Blackwater field earlier this month and the first four wells are expected to be completed in the December quarter.
