Bow ramps up Bowen CSG campaign
BOW Energy is planning to drill up to three pilot wells in the Comet Block, Bowen Basin, late next month following positive results from its current coal seam gas drilling program.
The company said the three pilot wells would be drilled either in late August or early September to establish potential gas flow rates within the Rangal and Upper Fort Cooper Coal Measures.
The first pilot well, BWP-1, will be drilled northwest of BW-4 in the Blackwater CSG field in the southeast area of the Comer Block.
BWP-1 will be followed by up to two additional production wells with the locations determined after the final results of the wells have been received and integrated into new field mapping.
Bow has so far drilled five of the 16 wells planned for the Comet and Norwich Park blocks. The wells have indicated high gas contents and good coal permeability in the Rangal and Fort Cooper Coal Measures.
The company has two Depco drilling rigs operating onsite with a third rig expected to join the program once it has drilled the Carnarvon-5 well on the Don Juan project in the Surat Basin.
In other company news, Bow said it was working with MHA Petroleum Consultants to increase the certified 3P (proved, probable and possible) gas reserves and obtain advice on the optimal drilling program to target 2P (proved and probable) certified gas reserves within the Blackwater CSG field.
Bow owns 100% of the Comet block.
